With 60% of the territory, the Peruvian jungle is the most important ecosystem of the country. Humid, hot and rainy, the jungle is the source of diversity of fauna and flora, blessed with some of the richest wildlife habitats on earth. With more than 30.000 known species of plants, the jungle refuges thousands of animal kinds, as an example the 32 species of primates, from the smallest ever known (mono de mano) to the biggest one. In this deep rain-forest live the Tapir, the Bear with glasses and the legendary Puma. In the sky fly almost 2.000 species of birds (more than Europe and the U.S. together) which 120 of them can't live anywhere else but in Peru

The region of Chanchamayo that we will discover in our tour, located in the central part of Peru, famous for its coffee and fruit production, is a excellent place to start to observe the diversity of the Peruvian jungle. Paradise of 3.000 orchids and more than 4.000 species of butterflies (like the Royal Butterfly and the "Star of David"), Chanchamayo offers its visitors, with a guide, its beauties trough all the paths in the very dense forest. Home of the last and largest Indian community on the country, Chanchamayo and its first habitants, the Ashaninkas, are ready to show you the secrets of this symbiosis between human and powerful mother nature.

Chanchamayo offers also many alternatives of recreation such as rafting, fishing, boat trips, natural pools, climbing, ... and just relax under the sun.

Climat : the jungle is divided into two differentiated areas: the cloud forest (above 700 masl) and the lowland jungle (below 700 masl) where the dry season runs from April to October and is ideal for tourism with sunshine and high temperatures often topping 35°. The rainy season, meanwhile, which runs from November to March. The jungle features high humidity all year long.
