The Andes, from south to north, split the country in 2 different sides : the desert on the pacific coast on the west thin side and the jungle on the east side. Second highest chain mountain in the world, the Andes climb fast into high altitudes in Peru. Most of the mountains are between 3.000 and 4.000 meters high and represent half of the Peruvian population (Serranos). Due to the roughness of the altitude, most of the mountain flora is composed of small arid hard trees and plants (páramo and puna, the "sponges of the mountains"). That is why it's also the paradise of potatoes (more than 800 kinds in Peru). But it's in Tarma, city where you will start the tour, that you will be able to see the biggest production of flowers of the country. Due to its special weather, Tarma, called the Pearl of the Andes, located in the white Cordillera (Huascarán 6768 meters), is completely surrounded by hundreds of colored flower fields (turunas, cartuchos, roses, gladiolus, bromeliads, begonias as the famous Giant Begonia, etc... )

The region of Junín offers many different kinds of landscapes, from high mountain to large pampas (high plateau fields), deep caverns, ruins of Incas (Inca's head square in Tarmatambo) and a natural reserve of wild llamas, alpacas, vicuñas and guanacos. During your tour, we will take you to Huagapo (the deepest cavern in South America), in which we will explore and climb and get to 300 meters of profundity, you will see San Pedro de Cajas, a small village dedicated to handicraft and textiles (in the old Inca's tradition). We will also take you to the largest natural stone forest in the country, in which you will feel very in touch with nature and will be able to climb giant rocks and have a walk next to vicuñas, alpacas and llamas. Also we will go to Canchacucho, the biggest source of mineral hot water of Pasco and enjoy a relaxing and healthy hot bath, all this and much more is just next to you.

Climat : in the Peruvian highlands, there are two well-defined seasons: the dry season (from April to October), marked by sunny days, cold nights and the lack of rain (the ideal time for visiting) and the rainy season (November to March). A characteristic of the mountain region is the drop in temperature during the day: temperatures commonly range around 24°C at midday before plunging to -3°C at night.
